That First DIY Project

Let's rewind to my old apartment – a cozy space where I spent 7.5 years with two roommates.

When we first moved in, practicality trumped aesthetics. The kitchen, with its outdated black countertops and a multi-hue blue small squares backsplash, didn't bother us much. After all, it was spacious enough for three, was a reasonable rent, and even had a washer-dryer combo!

However, as time went on, my fascination with interior design and home renovation grew, and suddenly, those countertops and backsplash became eyesores I couldn't ignore.

And that's when I dipped my toes into the DIY pool of home improvement. Armed with determination and a stack of peel-and-stick marble countertop and backsplash paper, I embarked on my first project. With the tools I ordered off Amazon, I dove in headfirst.

While the countertop makeover was a breeze and yielded impressive results, the textured backsplash posed a challenge. Despite not achieving a seamless finish, the visual upgrade was undeniable – a vast improvement over the original design.

The transformation was so striking that I found myself tempted to approach the landlord about investing in a permanent stone upgrade. Of course, I held back, but the change was too remarkable to go unnoticed.

And thus, my journey into interior DIY was born. Even though it wasn't perfect, the calm it brought to the chaotically designed kitchen was undeniable. Stay tunes as I share more projects, tips, and tricks I've picked up along the way!
